It just makes me so proud to see women on top of their game. They don’t just sit back because they’ve had success and just watch the sunset on the balcony.
In the past six months, I've asked that question of almost every woman over 40 who's been a guest on my show. I thought Cybill Shepherd's honesty on this point—"I had a great fear, as I grew older, that I would not be valued anymore"—offered terrific insight.
The entire television ratings/advertising system is set up to serve the 18-to-54 demographic.
Which says to anyone outside that group: We don't care about you.
Every year should teach you something valuable; whether you get the lesson is up to you.
